The article's conclusion that "The Vatican investigation into Medjugorje will settle nothing" is correct. I contend that if they accept the Ruini report and authenticate only the first six Medjugorje apparitions, and then close the case, that it will open Medjugorje to a new kind of attack that we have not seen before. It will allow the skeptics to say that this proves that even the Vatican knows that there is something wrong with almost all of it. And if over 99% of it is rotten, then its probably all rotten. And in some sort of face saving measure the Vatican just doesn't have the backbone to condemn all of it.

But in my mind, it raises a larger more serious question about the Blessed Mother Herself. The proposed decision implies that Our Lady has terrible judgement. In all Her previous apparitions, many of the visionaries She has chosen are saints or on their way to becoming one. Are we prepared to believe that in the case of Medjugorje She didn't know that all six of Her choices would go bad on Her? The Woman who knows all about the coming chastisements couldn't foresee the future actions of Her visionaries?

And where does that leave Her promise to 'finish at Medjugorje what I started at Fatima'? If the 'valid phase' of the event terminated 35 years ago, and the real Medjugorge is finished and con artists are now running Her game, can we put any faith in Her promise?

Indeed, how can we believe anything She has said?

The most important visionary in history Sr. Lucia is not a saint by the way. Also Sr. Lucia had apparitions for almost 70 years. Most people are unaware of that.

The article was so bad I was not going to comment and I certainly was not going to have it on Mystic Post.But...

The skeptics miss the most important point.
1. The Apparition of the Blessed Mother experienced by the six visionaries occurred and have been voted to be supernatural in nature by the committee members. This point cannot be overemphasized -

2. Regarding the remaining apparitions, the Vatican is simply taking a wait and see additude. If they were troubled by the ongoing events or felt they were fraudulent they would condemn in a minute. The secrets are still out there . It is impossible to accept the current events as "authentic". This idea that 99.9% of the apparitions are false is not a logical interpretation of what the committee is actually saying.

Also the idiot at Catholic Herald is not even aware of the precedent of accepting some messages as "worthy of belief" in the early stages and not commenting on later events. This happened in Argentina recently with Our Lady of the Rosary at St. Nichol https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Our_Lady_ ... col%C3%A1s

My recommendation is to ignore the article - it's a biased hit job.
