Christmas Day is not just the day when children open their presents with joyful faces, , when families enjoy spending time together and go to Church to welcome Our Lord. It is also the day when most souls are released from Purgatory; Medjugorje visionary Mirjana Dragicevic-Soldo stated in an interview on 10 January 1983: "Most people, think many souls are released from Purgatory into Heaven on All Saints' Day, but most souls are taken into Heaven on Christmas Day."
Let's honour Our Lady's request and pray for the release of the Holy Souls! There are many things you can do: you can pray the Rosary (which is very effective), make the Stations of the Cross for them, do good works on their behalf, make short ejaculations, or you can have a Mass said for them. Another good prayer for the Holy Souls came from Our Lady directly, it's called the 777. On 22 July 1982, Our Lady said to the visionaries: "Pray for their intentions, at least the Lord's Prayer, the Hail Mary, and the Glory Be seven times each, and the Creed. I recommend it to you. There is a large number of souls who have been in Purgatory for a long time because no one prays for them."
Praying these prayers - and lighting a Blessed Candle for them - takes about 5 minutes each day and is a beautiful thing to do. The Holy Souls will in return pray for you when they have entered into the Joy of the Lord!
