125. Psalm 115: 1 Not to us, LORD, not to us but to Your Name give glory because of Your faithfulness and love.

126. Psalm 116:3-4,12-17
verses 3-4 I was caught by the cords of death; the snares of Sheol had seized me; I felt agony and dread. Then I called on the Name of the LORD, "O, LORD, save my life!"
verses 12-17 How can I repay the LORD for all the good done to me? I will raise the cup of salvation and call on the Name of the LORD. I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people. Too costly in the Eyes of the LORD is the death of His faithful. LORD, I am Your servant, Your servant, the child of Your maidservant; You have loosed my bonds. I will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the Name of the LORD.

127. Psalm 118:10-14, 26-27
verses 10-14 All the nations surrounded me; in the LORDS's Name I crushed them. They surrounded me on every side; in the LORD's Name I crushed them. They surrounded me like bees; they blazed like fire among thorns; in the LORD's Name I crushed them. I was hard pressed and falling, but the LORD came to my help. The LORD, my strength and might, came to me as Savior.
The first sentence of verses 26-29 is known as the Hosanna which was said upon the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem before the Last Supper and His passion and death and it is also sung at every Mass before the prayers of consecration and we just celebrated it a few days ago on Palm Sunday! It is:
Blessed is He Who comes in the Name of the LORD. We bless You from the LORD's house. The LORD is God and has given us light. Join in procession with leafy branches up to the horns of the altar. You are my God, I give You thanks; my God, I offer You praise. Give thanks to the LORD, Who is good, Whose love endures forever.

128. Psalm 119:54-55,131-132
verses 54-55 Your laws become my songs wherever I make my home. Even at night I remember Your Name in observance of Your teaching, LORD.
verses 131-132 I sigh with open mouth, yearning for Your commands. Turn to me and be gracious, Your edict for lovers of Your Name.

I was noticing at the Holy Thursday Last Supper Mass that psalm 116 was the responsorial psalm during the Liturgy of the Word and we just looked at that a few days ago in post #126 so that was a nice little Providential coincidence during Holy Week!

129. Psalm 122:3-4 Jerusalem, built as a city, walled round about. Here the tribes have come, the tribes of the LORD, as it was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the Name of the LORD.

This short prayer from psalm 124 can be said throughout your day when you have difficulties and want to quickly raise your mind and heart to the LORD in complete faith and trust. It is dedicated to God, the rescuer of people.

130. Psalm 124 verse 8 Our help is in the Name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

131. Psalm 129:5-8 May they (enemies) be scattered in disgrace, all who hate Zion. May they be like grass on the rooftops withered in early growth, never to fill the reaper's hands, nor the arms of the binders of sheaves, with none passing by to call out: "The blessing of the LORD be upon you! We bless you in the Name of the LORD!"

132. Psalm 135: 1-3, 13-14
verses 1-3 Hallelujah! Praise the Name of the LORD! Praise, you servants of the LORD who stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God! Praise the LORD; the LORD is good! Sing to God's Name; it is gracious!
verses 13-14 O LORD, Your Name is forever, Your renown, from age to age! For the LORD defends His people, shows mercy to His servants.

133. Psalm 138:2-3
I bow down low toward Your holy temple;
I praise Your Name for Your fidelity and love.
For You have exalted over all Your Name and Your promise.
When I cried out, You answered;
You strengthened my spirit.

134. Psalm 139:19-20 If only You would destroy the wicked, O God, and the bloodthirsty would depart from me! Deceitfully they invoke Your Name, Your foes swear faithless oaths.

135. Psalm 140:12-14 Slanderers will not survive on earth; evil will quickly entrap the violent. For I know the LORD will secure justice for the needy, their rights for the poor. Then the just will give thanks to Your Name; the upright will dwell in Your presence.

136. Psalm 142:7-8 Listen to my cry for help, for I am brought very low. Rescue me from my pursuers, for they are too strong for me. Lead me out of my prison, that I may give thanks to Your Name. Then the just shall gather around me because You have been good to me.

137. Psalm 143:11-12 For Your Name's sake, LORD, give me life; in Your justice lead me out of distress. In Your kindness put an end to my foes; destroy all who attack me, for I am Your servant.

138. BEAUTIFUL Psalm 145
I will extol You, my God and King;
I will bless Your Name forever.
Every day I will bless You; I will praise Your Name forever.
Great is the LORD and worthy of high praise; God's grandeur is beyond understanding.
One generation praises Your deeds to the next and proclaims Your mighty works. They speak of the splendor of Your majestic glory, tell of Your wondrous deeds. They speak of Your fearsome power and attest to Your great deeds. They publish the renown of Your abounding goodness and joyfully sing of Your justice.
The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in love. The LORD is good to all, compassionate to every creature.
All Your works give You thanks, O LORD and Your faithful ones bless You. They speak of the glory of Your reign and tell of Your great works.
Making known to all Your power, the glorious splendor of Your rule. Your reign is a reign for all ages, Your dominion for all generations.
The LORD is trustworthy in every word, and faithful in every work.
The LORD supports all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look hopefully to You; You give them their food in due season. You open wide Your Hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.
You, LORD, are just in all Your ways, faithful in all Your works. You, LORD, are near to all who call upon You, to all who call upon You in truth.
You satisfy the desire of those who fear You; You hear their cry and save them.
You, LORD, watch over all who love You, but all the wicked You destroy.
My mouth will speak Your praises, LORD; all flesh will bless Your holy Name forever.

139. Psalm 148 Hallelujah! Praise the LORD from the heavens; give praise in the heights.
Praise Him, all you angels; give praise , all you hosts.
Praise Him, sun and moon; give praise, all shining stars.
Praise Him, highest heavens, you waters above the heavens.
Let them all praise the LORD's Name; for the LORD commanded and they were created, assigned them duties forever, gave them tasks that will never change.
Praise the LORD from the earth, you sea monsters and all deep waters; you lightning and hail, snow and clouds, storm winds that fulfill His command; you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars; you animals wild and tame, you creatures that crawl and fly; you kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all who govern on earth; young men and women too, old and young alike.
Let them all praise the LORD's Name, for His Name alone is exalted, majestic above earth and heaven.
The LORD has lifted high the horn of His people, to the glory of all the faithful, of Israel, the people near to their God. Hallelujah!

140. Psalm 149:1-3 Hallelujah! Sing to the LORD a new song, a hymn in the assembly of the faithful. Let Israel be glad in their Maker, the people of Zion rejoice in their King. Let them praise His Name in festive dance, make music with tambourine and lyre.

141. Proverbs 18:10 (one of Solomon's proverbs) The Name of the LORD is a strong tower; the just man runs to It and is safe.

142. Proverbs 30:1-9 The words of Agur, son of Jakeh the Massaite: The pronouncement of mortal man: "I am not God; I am not God, that I should prevail. Why, I am the most stupid of men, and have not even human intelligence; Neither have I learned wisdom, not have I the knowledge of the Holy One. Who has gone up to heaven and come down again- who has cupped the wind in his hands? Who has bound up the waters in a cloak- who has marked out all the ends of the earth? What is His Name, what is His Son's Name, if you know it?" Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Add nothing to His words, lest he reprove you, and you be exposed as a deceiver. Two things I ask of You, deny them not to me before I die: Put falsehood and lying far from me, give me neither poverty nor riches; [provide me only with the food I need;] Lest, being full, I deny You, saying, "Who is the LORD?" or, being in want, I steal, and profane the Name of my God.

There are no references to the Name of the LORD in Ecclesiastes and just one in the Song of Songs

143. Song of Songs 1:2-3 Let Him kiss me with kisses of His mouth! More delightful is Your love than wine! Your Name spoken is a spreading perfume- that is why the maidens love You.

144. Wisdom 10:20 Therefore the just despoiled the wicked; and they sang, O LORD, Your holy Name and praised in unison Your conquering Hand- because Wisdom opened the mouths of the dumb, and gave ready speech to infants.

145. Wisdom chapter 14 talks about the origin and evils of idolatry. Verses 15-21 talk about an artisan that may skillfully make a likeness of a distant king only to have the people then idolize the statue... Wisdom 14: 19-21 For he (the sculptor), mayhap in his determination to please the ruler, labored over the likeness to the best of his skill; and the masses, drawn by the charm of the workmanship, soon thought he should be worshiped who shortly before was honored as a man. And this became a snare for mankind, that men enslaved to either grief or tyranny conferred the incommunicable Name (YHWH or Yahweh which is so holy that we say LORD) on stocks and stones.

The book of Sirach was written about 200 B.C. It has had value in the Catholic Church for centuries as a church book to teach the faithful and catechumens. This book is not included in the Hebrew nor the Protestant bible. The book of Sirach teaches general truths about how we ought to relate to God as individuals, families, and communities.
146. Sirach 17:1-7 The LORD from the earth created man, and in His own image He made him. Limited days of life He gives him and makes him return to earth again. He endows man with a strength of his own, and with power over all things else on earth. He puts the fear of Him in all flesh, and gives him rule over beasts and birds. He forms men's tongues and eyes and ears, and imparts to them an understanding heart. With wisdom and knowledge He fills them; good and evil He shows them. He looks with favor upon their hearts, and shows them His glorious works, that they may describe the wonders of His deeds and praise His holy Name.

147. Sirach 23:9-10 Let not your mouth form the habit of swearing, or becoming too familiar with the holy Name. Just as a slave that is constantly under scrutiny will not be without welts, so one who swears continually by the holy Name will not remain free from sin.

148. Sirach 36:10-15 Gather all the tribes of Jacob, that they may inherit the land as of old. Show mercy to the people called by Your Name; Israel, whom You named Your first-born. Take pity on Your holy city, Jerusalem, Your dwelling place. Fill Zion with Your majesty, Your temple with Your glory. Give evidence of Your deeds of old; fulfill the prophecies spoken in Your Name, reward those who have hoped in You, and let Your prophets be proved true.

149. Sirach 39:15-16, 35 Proclaim the greatness of His Name, loudly sing His praises, with music on the harp and all stringed instruments; sing out with joy as you proclaim: The works of God are all of them good; in its own time every need is supplied.
verse 35 So now with full joy of heart proclaim and bless the Name of the Holy One.
